It’s been three years since LISA launched her solo career in 2021. At the time, she released her solo project “LALISA,” featuring the double singles “Lalisa” and “Money,” via YG Entertainment and Interscope Records. Both songs achieved massive success, with “Money” becoming the longest-charting song by a K-pop female soloist on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. Additionally, it’s the only song by a K-pop soloist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. In the same year, LISA collaborated with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Megan Thee Stallion on the single “SG.” Since then, she has only appeared as a featured artist on Taeyang’s “Shoong!,” released in April 2023 and voted by fans as the InMusic Song of the Month.

Between late 2023 and early 2024, LISA’s career underwent some significant changes. YG Entertainment announced that all BLACKPINK members renewed their contracts for group activities but not for solo projects. In early February, LISA launched her own artist management company, Lloud. A couple of months later, she joined RCA Records in partnership with Lloud to release her solo music. As part of the agreement, LISA has full ownership of all her recordings, including the masters. “I’m super excited to be joining the RCA family and I am confident they are the best team to create a bigger movement in my solo career,” she stated after the announcement. 

In June, the “Money” singer joined TikTok and teased new music with a video captioned, “Coming Soon.” Last week, she posted another snippet of a new solo song and revealed the lyrics, “This the right way / Baby, I’m a rockstar!” On June 18th, LISA officially announced her comeback single “Rockstar,” scheduled for release on June 27th.
