Conan Gray is ready to begin a brand-new chapter. The singer-songwriter is releasing his fourth studio album, Wishbone, tonight, August 15, via Republic Records. The Wishbone announcement came as a surprise to fans, who had been speculating about new music but had no idea a full project was so close. For Conan, the journey to Wishbone began quietly, almost accidentally. “Over the past two years, I’ve been secretly writing songs,” he said. “After shows in the basements of venues, in hotel beds, between tours — I’d come home and write the things I felt nobody wanted to hear. Maybe even the things I didn’t want people to hear.

Those private moments eventually led him back to Dan Nigro, the Grammy-winning producer behind Gray’s debut EP Sunset Season (2018), as well as his first two albums, Kid Krow (2020) and Superache (2022). Nigro once again serves as executive producer for Wishbone, joined by Ethan Gruska, Noah Conrad, Luka Kloser, and Elvira.

As Wishbone is just a few hours away, here is a complete guide to Conan Gray’s highly anticipated comeback.

A Return to Roots and a Shift in Perspective

Conan describes Wishbone as a return to his “singer-songwriter roots” — music born from bedroom solitude rather than high-concept pop polish. This time, the songs explore the rush and vulnerability of falling in love for the first time. “I didn’t know what story I was telling, I was just living in it,” Conan said. “Slowly, I started to see myself in full picture — the slivers of myself I’d always been, but never faced.” Much like his earlier work, the project was written entirely by Conan, with emotional candor and diaristic detail shaping each track.

Tracklist

Wishbone was preceded by the singles “This Song” and “Vodka Cranberry.” Overall, the record features 12 tracks:

1. Actor

2. This Song

3. Vodka Cranberry

4. Romeo

5. My World

6. Class Clown

7. Nauseous

8. Caramel

9. Connell

10. Sunset Tower

11. Eleven Eleven

12. Care

The Wishbone Pajama Show Tour

To celebrate the release, Gray will hit the road for The Wishbone Pajama Show, a tour named for the album and promising an immersive, themed experience. Rising indie-pop artist Hemlocke Springs will join as the special guest.

THE WISHBONE PAJAMA SHOW is sailing to you!” Conan shared on his social media when announcing the tour. “Join me for a night with Wishbone the album (as well as my other favorite songs, of course)… pack your sailor caps and pajama pants, I’ll pack @hemlockesprings.”

The tour kicks off at the end of the month with several festival appearances in Europe.
