The Melon Music Awards 2025 took place on December 20, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. JENNIE and G-Dragon dominated this year’s ceremony, with several major wins. The BLACKPINK star took home the coveted Record of the Year (Daesang), becoming the first soloist in history to do so. G-Dragon secured three Daesang awards: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (“Home Sweet Home”) and Album of the Year (Übermensch). Other notable winners include aespa, BOYNEXTDOOR, RIIZE, ILLIT, and KiiiKiii.
One of South Korea’s biggest music events of the year, the show is celebrating the artists, albums, and songs that defined the past 12 months in K-pop and beyond.
The eligibility period for the 2025 Melon Music Awards runs from October 31, 2024, through November 19, 2025, covering a highly competitive year on the Melon platform.
Melon has also detailed the scoring and voting system used to determine the winners. With the exception of the Millions Top 10 and Track Zero Choice categories, most awards are decided through a weighted formula: 60% digital performance (downloads and streaming), 20% judges’ evaluations, and 20% fan voting. The Millions Top 10 category places a stronger emphasis on platform performance, with 80% of the score based on streaming and downloads and 20% on fan votes.
