It’s been a memorable month for UK fast-rising band Adult Leisure. On March 13, they released the new single “The Light You Attract,” their first new material of 2026. The track positions the alt-indie band at a sharper emotional edge, pairing their atmospheric sound with some of their most confrontational writing to date.

Adult Leisure extended the momentum behind the song by making their U.S. debut with three showcase performances at the New Colossus Festival between March 5 and 6, followed by two more at SXSW shortly after the song’s release.

Recorded and mixed at Humm Studios with longtime collaborator Ollie Searle and mastered by John Webber—known for work with David Bowie and Duran Duran—“The Light You Attract” leans into tension rather than release. Its arrangement leaves space for the lyrical core to unfold, tracing the cycle of destructive attraction and the uneasy familiarity that often accompanies it. Guitarist David Woolford described the concept in direct terms: “It’s about recognising the patterns you keep walking into… you’re not just a victim of someone else’s chaos; you’re complicit in returning to it.”

That clarity of perspective marks a progression from the band’s earlier work. In late 2025, Adult Leisure enjoyed a major breakthrough with their debut album The Things You Don’t Know Yet. A few months later, the LP has already generated over 900,000 streams, positioning the band as one of the most promising rising bands in the UK. Notably, the 10-song project featured collaborations with John Waugh, whose credits include work with The 1975 and Sam Fender.

Formed in 2020, Adult Leisure built their following through a steady run of releases, including the 2022 EP The Weekend Ritual and 2023’s Present State of Joy and Grief. Their live reputation has developed in parallel, with sold-out UK dates and festival appearances across the Netherlands, France, Sweden, and Norway. Looking ahead, the band has a busy schedule with several performances on the calendar, including support slots for The Pale White and Summer Salt.

Now, Adult Leisure are riding high on the success of their debut album, kicking off a new chapter with “The Light You Attract,” available on all streaming platforms.
