Dua Lipa is deep in the creative process for her fourth studio album — and she’s not rushing it. Speaking to Access Hollywood on a recent red carpet appearance, the singer gave fans the most candid update yet on the follow-up to Radical Optimism: “Well, I’m working, I’m writing, I’m figuring it out, so we’ll see. It will be revealed.”
The project, referred to as DL4, has been quietly taking shape since studio sessions began in summer 2025. British Vogue confirmed her official start in June 2025, describing her as “planting the first seeds” of the new record. By August, Lipa was pulling back the curtain slightly in a Harper’s BAZAAR interview, admitting the sonic direction is still in flux. “Every day I’m making something that sounds completely different from yesterday,” she said. “Trying to figure out the new direction is probably the most fun part, but it’s also the hardest.”
One confirmed anchor in the project is a reunion with super-producer Mark Ronson. The two previously collaborated on “Electricity” with Silk City and “Dance The Night” from the Barbie soundtrack. Ronson confirmed the sessions are ongoing but still evolving. “This record is constantly changing,” he told reporters in September 2025, before adding: “I’m so amazed [by] what being in love and her relationship [bring] and how she’s just evolving as a songwriter and her voice is so incredible.”
When asked about potential collaborations, Lipa stayed characteristically tight-lipped, suggesting the process is entirely intuition-driven. “When I write, I never really listen to anything apart from the music that I’m writing, so I think I figure it out as it goes along.”
Dua Lipa’s most recent album dates back to 2024. Radical Optimism, her third LP, debuted at No. 1 in the UK and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in May 2024 — a career-best U.S. chart position. Powered by “Houdini,” “Training Season,” and “Illusion,” the album secured a massive success.
