J. Cole is weighing in on the fallout from one of hip-hop’s most polarizing rivalries. During a new appearance on Talk With Flee, the podcast hosted by Cam’ron, Cole addressed the public reaction to the Drake and Kendrick Lamar feud, calling aspects of the discourse “disgusting” while praising both artists.

In the interview, Cole pushed back against the binary narrative that dominated fan conversations. “The world became like politics, you either Democrat or Republican. You either Kendrick, or you Drake,” he said, framing the moment as one driven by division rather than appreciation. He continued, “I was disgusted both ways, damn near,” underscoring frustration not with the artists themselves, but with how audiences reacted in real time.

Attention quickly turned to how Drake was treated in the aftermath. “The ‘out of hand’ that to me is disgusting, how people try to use that opportunity to show how they really felt about Drake the whole time, or just to pile on and tear this dude down and create a narrative as if he’s not great. It was a whole campaign,” Cole said, describing what he viewed as a coordinated wave of criticism. At the same time, he made clear that admiration for Kendrick remained intact, noting pride in “the moment he had” as the battle unfolded.

The interview itself carried added weight given its backstory. In October 2024, Cam’ron filed a lawsuit against Cole over an unfulfilled podcast appearance tied to their collaboration “Ready ‘24,” from Cole’s mixtape Might Delete Later. That dispute framed the episode as more than a standard promo stop, with teasers hinting at a mix of tension and humor before the full conversation aired. Cole ultimately followed through on the commitment, using the platform to address both personal and industry-wide topics.

Beyond the feud, Cole offered insights on his latest chapter. He spoke about his chart-topping album The Fall Off, describing a renewed focus on becoming “my own favorite rapper again.” Elsewhere in the discussion, he expressed hope that Drake’s next album, ICEMAN, will succeed commercially.
