BTS return tonight with ARIRANG, their first full-group album in nearly four years, arriving March 20, 2026 via Big Hit Music. Fueled by record-breaking demand and a global rollout, the project marks one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Below is everything to know before the album drops.
A Comeback Years in the Making
ARIRANG arrives after a prolonged hiatus that began in 2022, when RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook paused group activities to complete South Korea’s mandatory military service. Work on the album began in earnest in July 2025, with RM confirming via Weverse that the group was “working diligently” on new material. By November 1, 2025, Jimin told fans the record was finished.
The rollout officially started on January 4, 2026, when Big Hit Music confirmed both the album and a global tour. Eleven days later, the title ARIRANG was revealed, referencing the traditional Korean folk song. According to the label, the project “captures BTS’ identity as a group that began in Korea,” signaling a thematic return to their roots.

A Global Production Team
ARIRANG pulls together an extensive lineup of producers. Diplo contributes to multiple tracks, including “Body to Body,” “FYA,” and “Into the Sun,” while Mike WiLL Made-It appears on “Aliens” and “2.0.” Kevin Parker of Tame Impala co-produces “Merry Go Round.”
Diplo has already set expectations high, calling the project the “craziest album ever” in a recent interview and suggesting its impact could “shock the world.” He also praised the group’s creative involvement, highlighting their hands-on role across songwriting and production.
Record-Breaking Demand Before Release
Hours before its official release, ARIRANG crossed 5 million pre-saves on Spotify, setting a historic benchmark. The figure makes BTS the first K-pop act, male act, Asian act, and group to reach the milestone, placing them alongside Taylor Swift as the only artists to achieve it.
Innovative Promotion Campaign
The rollout has extended far beyond traditional marketing. On February 14, thousands of roses appeared in cities including Seoul, London, and Los Angeles, each tied to QR codes and the question “What is your love song?” That activation was followed by a collaboration with Google on March 4, introducing an interactive search experience featuring a blue ship-in-a-bottle graphic and trivia-based rewards. A separate partnership with Spotify launched the “SWIMSIDE” campaign on March 10, featuring pop-ups, exclusive content, and immersive fan experiences.
Live Events and What Comes Next
BTS will take the stage for BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang on March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, with the performance streamed globally on Netflix. The event marks their first major group appearance since completing military service.
The momentum continues with the Arirang World Tour, launching April 9, 2026 in Goyang. The tour spans Asia, Europe, North America, and Latin America, with confirmed stops in Tokyo, London, Paris, Los Angeles, and São Paulo before concluding on March 13, 2027 in Manila.
A documentary, BTS: The Return, will premiere March 27, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the album’s creation.
