Netflix has released the first trailer for BTS: THE RETURN, a feature-length documentary chronicling the long-awaited reunion of BTS as they begin work on their comeback album Arirang. The film premieres globally on March 27, 2026, offering rare behind-the-scenes access as the seven members regroup in Los Angeles following the completion of their mandatory military service.

Running 102 seconds, the newly unveiled trailer blends intimate studio footage with members’ reflective voiceovers that hint at the emotional weight behind the group’s return. “We’ve been away,” one member says early in the clip, while another adds, “This is something only we can pull off,” setting a tone shaped equally by nostalgia and anticipation.

The documentary follows the band as they reconnect creatively inside recording studios across Los Angeles. Cameras capture candid moments of uncertainty, laughter, and renewed artistic focus while the members begin shaping Arirang, their fifth studio album. The project comes out this Friday (March 20) and represents their first full-length release since stepping away for military service.

Direction comes from Bao Nguyen, whose previous work includes acclaimed documentaries exploring cultural moments and music history. Production is handled by This Machine alongside HYBE, the entertainment company behind BTS’ global rise since their debut in 2013.

The documentary will arrive one week after Arirang is released. It will also mark the second project from BTS to premiere on Netflix.

On March 21, the group will reunite for their first full-group concert in years, performing at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul to celebrate the album’s release. The special event will be exclusively livestreamed on Netflix at 8:00 p.m. KST, 4:00 a.m. PT, and 7:00 a.m. ET.
