ENHYPEN is unexpectedly entering a new era. On March 10, 2026, the group’s agency confirmed that Heeseung will officially depart the lineup to pursue a solo career, marking the first lineup change since the group’s debut in 2020.

The announcement immediately sent waves across the global K-pop community. For fans, the departure represents a major turning point for a group that has maintained the same seven-member formation since emerging from the survival show I-Land. Over the past several years, that lineup had become central to the group’s identity, both musically and visually.

The Agency’s Decision

In an official statement released through BELIFT LAB on Weverse, the company explained that the decision followed “extensive and in-depth discussions” about the group’s long-term direction.

According to the agency, Heeseung expressed a desire to explore a “distinct musical vision” that differs from ENHYPEN’s collective path. After conversations with all members, the label ultimately chose to support that direction.

Importantly, the move does not signal a complete separation from the company. Heeseung will remain signed to BELIFT LAB, which operates under the wider umbrella of HYBE. The singer is already preparing his debut solo album.

The statement emphasized that the decision was made with both the artist’s ambitions and the group’s future in mind. While acknowledging that the news could be difficult for fans to process, the agency expressed confidence that both Heeseung and ENHYPEN will continue to grow in their respective paths.

Heeseung’s Message to Fans

Shortly after the announcement, Heeseung shared a handwritten letter addressed to ENGENE, the group’s fandom. The message reflected on the six years he spent training and performing alongside the group.

In the letter, the singer described the experience as a dream that once felt unreachable. He credited his fellow members and fans for helping him reach that moment. Those memories, he wrote, will remain among the most meaningful experiences of his life.

Heeseung also acknowledged that his personal artistic projects played a role in the decision. Over time, he began developing music and ideas that he hoped to present independently. However, he expressed concern that prioritizing those ambitions within the group structure could affect the team’s direction.

Rather than pursue that path while remaining in the lineup, he ultimately agreed with the company that a new structure would allow both sides to move forward more clearly.

Even as he begins preparing for his solo debut, Heeseung made clear that his support for ENHYPEN remains unchanged. In his words, he hopes to cheer the group on “more than anyone else” in the future.

A Major Shift for the Group

For ENHYPEN, the departure changes more than just the number of members. The group will now continue as six performers: Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni‑ki.

From a performance perspective, the adjustment will require significant restructuring. Heeseung was widely regarded as one of the group’s strongest vocalists and often served as a central pillar in their songs. His absence will likely lead to a redistribution of vocal lines and harmonies in future releases.

Members such as Jake, Sunoo, and Jungwon may take on expanded roles vocally, while the group’s overall arrangement could evolve to highlight different strengths within the lineup.

Choreography will also change. K-pop groups carefully design stage formations around specific member counts, meaning many of ENHYPEN’s existing routines will require modification. Songs from their discography may be reworked for six-member performances moving forward.
