ENHYPEN will officially move forward without Heeseung. In a new statement to The Korea Herald, label BELIFT LAB confirmed the singer will not return to the group following his recent departure announcement.
“Heeseung will not be returning to Enhypen,” the company said, addressing mounting speculation among fans. Representatives added that the vocalist has “a clear artistic direction he wants to pursue,” explaining that the agency ultimately chose to respect his decision.
Reaction across the fandom has been immediate and intense.
Within hours of the original March 10 announcement, a fan-led campaign on Change.org surpassed one million signatures in less than 24 hours. The petition calls on BELIFT LAB and its parent company HYBE to allow Heeseung to pursue solo projects without leaving ENHYPEN entirely.
Supporters argue the situation presents a false choice. Solo ambitions and group activity often coexist within the K-pop system, where members frequently release individual projects while remaining active in their groups.
ENHYPEN’s lineup had remained unchanged since debut. The seven-member act first emerged from the 2020 survival program I-Land before officially debuting in November of that year. For more than five years, the group maintained its original formation, making Heeseung’s exit the first lineup shift in its history.
Label executives previously explained that the decision followed “extensive and in-depth discussions” regarding the group’s long-term creative direction. According to the agency, Heeseung expressed interest in pursuing a “distinct musical vision” that diverges from ENHYPEN’s collective sound.
Despite leaving the lineup, the singer will remain signed to BELIFT LAB and is already preparing his debut solo album.
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN will continue promotions as six members: Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki.
