ILLIT have officially announced their fourth mini album, MAMIHLAPINATAPAI, set for release on April 30, 2026, marking their first project in nearly 10 months. The comeback reveal first arrived as a surprise during their ILLIT Live ‘Press Start’ concerts in Seoul, where the group unveiled the title and lead single, “It’s Me,” to a live audience.
On March 17, the K-pop group formally confirmed the project and opened pre-saves for fans. Given the unusual title, many may not know what it means. “Mamihlapinatapai,” a word from the Yaghan language, describes a shared, unspoken moment between two people who both want something but hesitate to act. Recognized for its complexity, the term is often cited as one of the most difficult words to translate.
That thematic direction builds on recent momentum. The group’s previous EP, bomb, released June 16, 2025, introduced a mix of synth-pop, Eurodance, chiptune, and lo-fi influences, eventually reaching No. 171 on the Billboard 200. Follow-up single “Not Cute Anymore” extended their reach later that year, peaking at No. 88 on Spotify’s Daily Global Chart.
