LISA made MTV Video Music Awards history Sunday night, taking home Best Pop for “Dream” at the 2026 ceremony and becoming a four-time VMA winner. The emotional victory adds another milestone to her growing solo résumé and gives her a category win that no Asian solo act had achieved at the ceremony in more than four decades.
LISA became the first Asian solo act to win the VMA for Best Pop in 42 years, while also becoming the first soloist and female act in VMA history to win both Best K-Pop and Best Pop. Before her, only BTS had achieved victories in both categories.

The award also extends LISA’s remarkable run at the VMAs. She previously won Best K-Pop for “Lalisa” in 2022, “Rockstar” in 2024 and “Born Again” in 2025, making this her fourth Moon Person and her third consecutive year with a VMA win.
During her acceptance speech, LISA became visibly emotional as she addressed her fans, known as Lilies. “To my lilies, I wouldn’t be here without you guys, thank you so much for your love and support,” she said from the stage.
The winning song, “Dream,” was released on February 28, 2025, through Lloud and RCA Records as part of LISA’s debut solo album, Alter Ego. The track later found another wave of attention following the release of its accompanying short film, which stars LISA alongside Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi and was directed by Ojun Kwon.
That visual arrived on August 13, helping “Dream” reach another career milestone for LISA. The song became her second No. 1 on the Official Thailand Chart, following “Born Again,” further connecting her solo work with her Thai roots and international audience.
“Dream” entered the 2026 VMAs with multiple nominations. Alongside Best Pop, the song was also nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best K-Pop, giving LISA a strong presence across both performance and visual categories.
The moment also arrives during another major chapter in LISA’s solo career. Earlier in 2026, she continued expanding her international profile with “SaWaDiKa,” the lead single from her upcoming PRESS PLAY EP.
