Karol G has made Spotify history once again, joining Shakira as the only Latina artists with multiple No. 1 songs on the platform’s Daily Global chart. “BbY WOW,” her collaboration with Judeline and rusowsky, reached the summit on the chart dated August 27 after a rapid climb that has turned the track into one of the biggest streaming hits of the week.
The song earned 3.343 million streams on Thursday, marking a new peak after debuting at No. 189 on August 13. Its ascent accelerated during the second half of August, with “BbY WOW” breaking into the Top 10 on August 26 before completing its climb to No. 1 the following day.
Karol G previously reached the top of Spotify’s Daily Global chart in 2023 with “TQG,” her blockbuster collaboration with Shakira. That song now takes on additional significance as the first No. 1 in Karol G’s catalog that helped establish her among the small group of Latina artists to reach the summit.
Shakira remains the only other Latina with multiple No. 1 songs on the Daily Global chart. Her historic run includes “TQG,” “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” and, more recently, “Dai Dai,” giving her three chart-topping entries compared with Karol G’s two.
The achievement also highlights just how rare a No. 1 on Spotify’s worldwide daily ranking has been for female Latin artists. Only five songs by Latin female artists have reached the summit, with Karol G and Shakira accounting for four of those five No. 1s.
Anitta made history in 2022 when “Envolver” became the first song by a Latin female artist to top the Daily Global chart. The Brazilian star’s achievement remains particularly significant because “Envolver” is also the only song by a Brazilian artist to reach No. 1 on the chart.
“BbY WOW” arrives at a major moment in Karol G’s career. The song appears on No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto, her sixth studio album, which was released August 7 through Bichota Records and Interscope Records. The project features collaborations with Drake, Bruno Mars, Judeline, Rusowsky and Greg Gonzalez and opened at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 while also topping Billboard’s two major Latin album charts.
