Ari Lennox has always moved at her own pace, but Vacancy feels like the moment when patience, confidence, and creative clarity fully align. The GRAMMY-nominated singer’s third studio album arrives as a refined evolution of the R&B sound that established her as one of the genre’s modern heavyweights. The project is shaped by different chapters of Lennox’s life, having been written over three years across multiple cities.
Vacancy opens with “Mobbin’ in DC,” a warm nod to her roots, before continuing with two of the album’s biggest highlights, “High Note” and “Under the Moon.” The album’s main weakness lies in its length. After a very strong first half, Vacancy loses momentum in the latter stretch, with some of its weakest moments appearing on tracks like “Dreaming” and “Hocus Pocus.”
