October’s first New Music Friday arrives with a distinctly R&B and rap-heavy lineup, led by major new projects from Victoria Monét, Quavo and Drake.
Victoria Monét opens a major new chapter with Frequency of Love, her first full-length studio album since 2023’s Grammy-winning Jaguar II. Released through Lovett Music/RCA, the 22-track project is executive-produced by Camper and expands the world established by singles including “Let Me,” “Reach Out” and “Juicy.”
“Let Me” has already reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, giving the album a strong commercial lead-in. Kaytranada and D’Mile produced “Reach Out,” while “Juicy” adds another piece to the record’s mix of contemporary R&B and ’90s-inspired influences.
The guest list makes Frequency of Love even bigger, with SZA, Bruno Mars, Bryson Tiller, Lucky Daye, Chlöe and Leon Thomas appearing across the album. Monét’s daughter Hazel also features, adding a deeply personal element to a project that she has described as extending beyond romantic relationships to include motherhood, love and her hopes for the world.
Quavo, meanwhile, is entering his new solo era with QRÖMELIFE, his third solo studio album and first since 2023’s Rocket Power. Released through Quality Control/Motown, the 14-track project was executive-produced by Pharrell Williams, who produced every beat and helped push Quavo toward a brighter, more experimental sound.
The album’s rollout has already crossed music and fashion. “HAAVIN” was featured at Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 2027 men’s show, while “Backwards” with T.I. has also helped introduce the project. Future, Lil Baby, Yung Miami and Justin Timberlake are among the other guests.
One of the most closely watched tracks is “Away,” which features Offset. The collaboration marks a significant reunion for the surviving Migos members following Takeoff’s death in 2022.
The most unexpected release of the day comes from Drake, whose HABIBTI (FOMO DELUXE) brings music from his September 15 Fear of Missing Out film to streaming platforms. The roughly hour-long YouTube project introduced a collection of unreleased songs, leaving fans waiting to find out which tracks would eventually receive official releases.
Drake previously confirmed that not every song from the FOMO film would arrive on streaming, but promised that “enough” of the tracks fans had been asking for would be released. The deluxe edition reportedly adds four songs: “Solar Eclipse” with Don Toliver, “Quebec,” “Classic PT.2” and “Cold Shoulder,” which features both Don Toliver and Yebba. “Solar Eclipse” is particularly notable for its connection to country music, incorporating a slowed interpolation of Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas.”
The project arrives only four months after Drake accomplished a rare Billboard 200 feat, placing ICEMAN, HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR in the chart’s top three positions simultaneously.
Noteworthy releases also come from Lil Nas X, Hilary Duff, Mac Miller, Noah Kahan, Holly Humberstone, Miranda Lambert, Yung Miami, and more.
