A few hours ago, the nominations for the 51st American Music Awards were announced. The ceremony will return after a nearly three-year absence on May 26, with Jennifer Lopez as host. Kendrick Lamar leads with 10 nods, including Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year. Post Malone follows with eight, while Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey each scored seven. While many fans celebrated seeing their favorite artists nominated, others expressed confusion over some unexpected snubs. Below, we round up the biggest omissions from the 2025 AMAs.

Ariana Grande

The pop superstar is arguably the biggest snub of this year’s AMAs. Ariana received just two nominations—Artist of the Year and Favorite Soundtrack. Surprisingly, her recent album Eternal Sunshine earned zero nods, leaving fans wondering how that was possible. The LP topped the Billboard 200 and was one of the best-selling albums of 2024. Additionally, Ariana was overlooked in all Pop categories, and none of her new songs received nominations. Easily the most shocking omission of the year.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa’s latest body of work, Radical Optimism, continues to miss out on nominations at major U.S. music award shows. The pop star didn’t receive a single nomination at the 2025 AMAs—not even in the Favorite Music Video category, despite her “Houdini” video winning the MTV VMA for Best Choreography.

Coldplay, Bad Bunny, and P!nk

Billie Eilish, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift, and Zach Bryan are the nominees for Favorite Touring Artist. While all had exceptional years on the road, the omission of Coldplay, Bad Bunny, and P!nk came as a surprise. Their tours ranked among the highest-grossing of the past year. While Coldplay’s exclusion may be attributed to the Music of the Spheres Tour not visiting the U.S., both P!nk’s Summer Carnival Tour and Bad Bunny’s Most Wanted Tour included extensive U.S. dates. Notably, the latter featured 48 sold-out shows across the country.
