Ava Max has delighted fans by announcing her third studio album. Titled Don’t Click Play, the album is set for release on August 22—just in time for the end of summer. The 31-year-old pop sensation revealed the title and artwork in a playful way, reposting Ed Sheeran’s announcement of his upcoming LP, Play, on X/Twitter. Ava’s post quickly sent fans into a frenzy. “OH MY GODDDDDD THIS COVER IS AMAZING,” one fan commented. “We are READY!!” another added. Ava has been teasing her third studio project for quite a while. Back in September 2023, she wrapped up her first headlining tour, On Tour (Finally), in support of her sophomore album Diamonds & Dancefloors. Shortly after, she hinted that she was back in the studio, writing “Album 3 loading.” Throughout 2024, the “Sweet But Psycho” singer kept fans updated, sharing studio photos and teasing the creative process: “It’s That Crazy.” Not long after, she dropped the single “My Oh My,” which was initially meant to serve as the lead single for AM3, marking what she called “the beginning of the third era.” Another single, “Spot a Fake,” soon followed.
Originally, Ava planned to release a full-length album by the end of 2024, but later revealed she scrapped many songs, feeling the project lacked cohesion. She returned to the studio with a fresh approach. By year’s end, she told Audacy she was experimenting with new sounds—shifting away from her signature electro-pop toward a blend that includes slower tracks, pop-rock, and even country influences. “This new album has slower songs and some pop, rock, and country records that fans have never heard from me,” she shared, promising that it would be “the best project of [her] entire life.”
Earlier this year, Ava released the single “Lost Your Faith” alongside a music video and confirmed she was “putting the final touches on the album.” Most recently, she launched a teaser website, dontclickplayonavamax.com, which features a snippet of an unreleased track. On April 12, she also joined Alok onstage during his Coachella set, reviving her iconic Max Cut hairstyle—fueling even more fan anticipation.
While Ava has revealed the album cover, which features her inside a flaming “Play” symbol, the full tracklist remains under wraps. The LP is expected to include “Lost Your Faith” as its lead single, while another rumored track, “Lovin Myself,” has been circulating among fans. With Don’t Click Play just three months away, we can expect at least one more single to drop before the full tracklist is revealed.
