Brent Faiyaz is extending the life of Icon. Just two days after releasing his new album, the singer revealed that a Director’s Cut edition is arriving tonight, offering fans a deeper look into the world he carefully constructed for his third studio project.

Titled Icon (Director’s Cut), the expanded version will include two bonus tracks: “full moon. (fall in tokyo)” and “1 for you. (spring in new york).”

Originally released on February 13, Icon marked Faiyaz’s first full-length studio album since 2022’s Wasteland. The record arrived without guest features—a deliberate creative decision that placed full focus on his songwriting and vocal presence. Production credits span a notable list of collaborators, including Raphael Saadiq, Chad Hugo, Benny Blanco, Dpat, Paperboy Fabe, and Tommy Richman. Saadiq also served as executive producer.

The album’s path to release was not straightforward. Faiyaz initially planned to drop Icon in September 2025 but pulled the project at the last minute. In interviews, he has spoken about refining the material to better reflect the dualities he wanted to explore.

The album’s impact was immediate. Icon earned widespread acclaim and debuted in the Top 5 on U.S. iTunes. On release day, Faiyaz also shared the music video for “Wrong Faces,” directed by Cole Bennett.
