BTS are rewriting the record books once again. Their new album ARIRANG sold 3,981,507 copies on its first day on the Hanteo Chart, marking the group’s biggest opening-day total to date.
The figure, recorded on March 20, 2026, surpasses the 3.67 million first-day sales of Map of the Soul: 7 in 2020, setting a new personal best for the group. ARIRANG now ranks as the second-highest first-day seller in Hanteo history, trailing only SEVENTEEN’s FML, which holds the all-time record at 3,998,373 copies.
The updated all-time ranking highlights the scale of BTS’ return. SEVENTEEN’s SPILL THE FEELS sits at No. 5 with 2,494,180 copies, followed by BTS’ Map of the Soul: 7 at No. 4 with 2,653,050. SEVENTEEN’s SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN claims No. 3 with 3,288,017, while ARIRANG lands at No. 2, just 16,866 copies shy of the top spot.
Momentum around the release had already been building before the album dropped. ARIRANG surpassed 5 million pre-saves on Spotify ahead of release, making BTS the first K-pop act, male act, Asian act, and group to reach that milestone. The achievement placed them alongside Taylor Swift as the only artists to cross the threshold, signaling unprecedented global demand.
The album marks BTS’ first full-group project since 2022, following the completion of mandatory military service by all seven members.
