On September 30, hip-hop fans were caught in the middle of fresh drama when a leaked audio clip of a phone call between Cardi B and Ice Spice’s management spread across social media. The clip, reportedly recorded about a year ago, shows Cardi in a furious rant aimed at Ice’s manager, James Rosemond Jr., and by extension, Ice herself. The two-minute snippet, allegedly part of a longer 11-minute call, reignited tensions in the rap world just as Cardi’s public feud with Nicki Minaj boiled over online.

What Triggered the Call
The dispute appears to stem from Cardi’s interpretation of lyrics on Ice Spice’s debut album Y2K!, released last year. On the track “BB Belt,” Ice raps: “Fallin’ behind like, bitch, pick up your pace / It was funny ‘til I took her place.” Cardi reportedly saw this as a claim that Ice had “replaced” her in the rap game, fueling the heated exchange.
Cardi’s Outburst
In the leaked audio, Cardi demands Ice be put on the phone, threatening to physically confront her. Among the viral quotes:
• “Why you want to act dumb? You don’t know?! I’ma show y’all! I’m not Latto! I’ma beat her the F*ck up! I’ma knock her the f*ck out!”
• “I’ma get Riot beat up by my n**s,” referring to producer RIOTUSA, Ice Spice’s longtime collaborator.
Cardi later insisted the full recording paints a different picture, claiming Ice was upset at her for congratulating Sexyy Red at the BET Awards over Ice’s iHeartRadio win. She argued that only the most inflammatory section was leaked to discredit her.
Who Leaked the Audio?
Speculation over who leaked the call has dominated online discussion. Cardi directly accused Rosemond of leaking it, writing on X (formerly Twitter):
“But wait James… cuz I just know you didn’t only record the beginning of that conversation.. go ahead baby post the whole 11 minute convo when Ice Spice said she was in her feelings all because I said Sexyy deserved a BET Award and she had just won some iHeart award I wasn’t even thinking about.. POST IT ALL!!! You came to bang right???”
Rosemond denied any involvement, stressing that his own voice can be heard on speakerphone, meaning someone else recorded and circulated it. “I did not record or leak that call,” he wrote on X. “You hear me on speaker with your manager Tubby, who called me with you on three-way, and you can literally hear that in the clip. The audio didn’t come from me. I respect private conversations, and I’m not in the business of leaking anything.”
Cardi replied: “James, be for real and be a man. I was in my bedroom by myself—it was only you, me, and Tubby on the call. So you saying it was Tubby?? Your artist put a laughing emoji, then leaked the convo, then posted a trash-ass clip of her song in less than an hour… This why you been avoiding the CEOs of 10K, ’cause you know you did it and you sound like a bitch.”
Then Rosemond replied: “Ms. Almánzar, I see this is part of your rollout—lies and manipulation included. I won’t play tennis back and forth with you. God doesn’t like liars, so I’ll end it here. I put my hand on the Bible: I/we had nothing to do with recording, leaking, or even knowing that call was being recorded.”
And Cardi replied again: “James, be for real. Your artist had nothing to do with the conversation yesterday. SHE is the one that tweeted that emoji, then dropped that call and previewed a song right after—not the other way around!! Your artist’s new song is not charting anywhere… What can you possibly do for my rollout?? The gaslighting is insane.”
The Wider Feud
The call comes amid an already tense week in hip-hop. Cardi and Nicki exchanged a string of heated posts, reviving their long-running rivalry. Minaj mocked Cardi’s career and appearance, while Cardi hit back, accusing Nicki of focusing on her instead of competing with peers like Rihanna or Taylor Swift. JT of City Girls and Ice Spice appeared to shade Cardi during the exchange, intensifying the drama.
