Doja Cat has officially launched her new musical chapter with the release of “Jealous Type,” the first single from her upcoming fifth studio album, Vie. The track dropped across all streaming platforms, arriving with a stylish music video that signals the tone for the new era.

The Grammy-winning star previewed “Jealous Type” earlier this month during her headlining performance at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival, where fans enjoyed a first glimpse into Doja’s pop-forward sound. Produced by Jack Antonoff—known for his work with Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, and Lorde—the single marks a return to a lighter, more melodic palette after the darker, rap-focused energy of her last album, Scarlet.

Musically, “Jealous Type” blends glossy, retro-leaning production with Doja’s playful vocals, channeling influences from the late ’70s and ’80s while still sounding distinctly modern. In a recent interview with V Magazine, Doja explained that Vie would embrace a pop-driven direction with a focus on mood and texture rather than chasing chart trends. “It’s how things sound that makes the music worth listening to,” she said, adding that the project aims to embrace both honesty and imperfection.

“Jealous Type” arrives just over a month before Vie is set to drop on September 26 via Kemosabe and RCA Records. The album will feature 15 tracks in total, making it Doja Cat’s longest release to date.

Alongside the single release, Doja Cat has also unveiled her “Tour Ma Vie” world tour, kicking off November 18 in Auckland, New Zealand. The trek will mark her first global run since her Scarlet tour. Additional dates across Europe and North America are set to be announced soon.

For now, “Jealous Type” is the first glimpse of Doja Cat’s next chapter.
