The latest New Music Friday brought plenty of new pop music to groove to. Tate McRae treated fans to her third studio album, So Close to What, which features standout tracks like “Revolving Door” and “I Know Love” featuring The Kid Laroi. We also saw some major collaborations: JENNIE recruited newly Grammy-winning rapper Doechii for her new single “ExtraL,” the third release from her upcoming album Ruby. Meanwhile, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, gearing up for the release of their joint album I Said I Love You First, dropped “Call Me When You Break Up” with Gracie Abrams. Dove Cameron also joined the lineup, launching her new album rollout with “Too Much,” the lead single from Alchemical: Vol. 2.

As always, InMusic polled fans on X (formerly Twitter) to determine the week’s favorite release. Dove Cameron’s “Too Much” emerged as the clear winner, securing 55% of the total votes. The other three releases were closely matched, with So Close to What at 16%, “Call Me When You Break Up” at 15%, and “ExtraL” at 14%.
After teasing her sophomore album throughout 2024, Dove Cameron kicks off 2025 with “Too Much,” her first release in two years. The song leans into electropop, marking a departure from the sound of Alchemical: Volume 1. The 29-year-old shared that she’s in a different place in her life, which has led her to explore a new sonic direction.
