Dua Lipa has reached a new commercial peak as Future Nostalgia surpasses 15 billion streams on Spotify, marking her first album to hit the milestone. With the achievement, she becomes only the second female artist to cross the threshold, joining Olivia Rodrigo, whose SOUR remains the most-streamed female album ever with over 16.7 billion streams as of March 21.

Released on March 27, 2020 via Warner Records, Future Nostalgia arrived at a pivotal moment for global pop. The album blended disco revivalism with sleek dance-pop production, crafted alongside collaborators including Jeff Bhasker, Ian Kirkpatrick, Stuart Price, and Koz.

Commercially, the album became a defining success of the decade. It topped charts in 15 countries and reached the top 10 in 31 markets, including a four-week run at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards, the project secured Best Pop Vocal Album while earning a nomination for Album of the Year.

Its singles were equally successful. “Don’t Start Now” peaked at No. 2 on both the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100, while “Levitating” later topped the 2021 year-end Hot 100 in the United States following its remix featuring DaBaby. Additional singles including “Physical” and “Break My Heart” quickly became fan-favorites.

The new milestone places Lipa in rare company. Rodrigo’s SOUR still leads among female albums on Spotify, but Lipa could soon expand her own record. Her self-titled debut album is currently fewer than 70 million streams away from reaching the same 15 billion mark, positioning her to become the first woman with two albums above that threshold. Notably, SZA also enters the conversation, with SOS and its deluxe edition LANA collectively surpassing 15 billion streams when combined.
