John Mayer is taking over the Sphere in Las Vegas for a six-night residency in April 2027, but he is not limiting the run to one version of his live show. The guitarist and singer will move between solo acoustic, electric and piano performances, full-band sets and a reunion of the John Mayer Trio across each night.
The residency is scheduled for April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18, 2027. Ticket and hotel packages go on sale Wednesday, September 30 at 10 a.m. PT, while the presale begins October 7 at 10 a.m. PT for fans who sign up through Mayer’s official channels.

John Mayer is billing the shows simply as “Solo. Full Band. Trio. Live at Sphere Las Vegas,” giving the residency a format that reflects three distinct sides of his career. Rather than separating the styles across different portions of the run, each concert will incorporate solo performances, a full-band section and a set with the John Mayer Trio.
The Trio reunion brings back bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan, the musicians who joined Mayer for the group’s acclaimed blues-rock project. The lineup last released the live album Where the Light Is: John Mayer Live in Los Angeles in 2008, although Mayer, Palladino and Jordan have continued to cross paths in various live and recording settings.
Recently, Mayer’s Solo Tour expanded into January 2026 and took the stripped-back format into international markets he had not previously played, including Bahrain, Mumbai and Abu Dhabi, with Mayer switching between acoustic guitar, electric guitar and piano without a backing band.
The Sphere residency will take that concept into a much larger production environment. John Mayer previously spent 48 shows at the Las Vegas venue as part of Dead & Company’s Dead Forever residency, which concluded in May 2025.
The 2027 residency announcement arrives during an active stretch for John Mayer. He performed at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Austin in September 2026 and is scheduled to appear at Radio City Music Hall on October 1 and October 9 for the “Buddy’s Got the Blues” tribute concerts alongside Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and other musicians.
