KATSEYE fans are looking for answers in the group’s latest music video, with two empty chairs in “Unloveu” sparking speculation about Manon and Sophia’s absences. Released on October 13 alongside the song’s arrival on streaming platforms, the black-and-white visual features Lara, Daniela, Megan and Yoonchae, but one detail has viewers wondering whether the group is quietly signaling that its six-member identity remains intact.

The video takes a more intimate, melancholic approach than KATSEYE’s previous releases, offering a striking contrast to the high-energy, playful direction associated with the WILD era. Several scenes show the four active members sitting together in a large room, where two visibly empty chairs have become a focal point for fans analyzing the imagery.

For some viewers, the chairs represent more than the group’s current lineup. The interpretation circulating among fans is that the empty seats symbolize Manon and Sophia, suggesting that KATSEYE still considers itself a six-member group despite the ongoing absences. Neither the video nor the accompanying release announcement explicitly confirms that meaning, leaving the detail open to interpretation.

The speculation arrives amid an uncertain period for the group. Sophia’s hiatus has a confirmed timeline: HYBE x Geffen announced on October 8 that she is expected to resume group activities during the first week of January 2027. She will remain absent from the North American leg of THE WILDWORLD TOUR and promotional activities through the end of 2026.

Sophia previously explained that she was receiving ongoing treatment and prioritizing her mental well-being. In an August 31 Instagram Story, she expressed how much she wanted to join the tour and perform for fans, while reassuring them that she remained connected to her members.

Manon, however, remains on hiatus, and no return date has been announced for her. That distinction is important when interpreting the “Unloveu” video: while Sophia’s comeback timeline is known, the future of Manon’s participation in group activities remains unclear. The two empty chairs may resonate with fans hoping for a reunion, but they do not establish when or whether both members will return.

The song itself also gives the release additional significance. Originally issued on August 14 as a bonus track on selected physical editions of WILD, “Unloveu” was previously unavailable on the EP’s standard streaming edition. Its October 13 streaming release finally makes the track more accessible to listeners who could not obtain the exclusive physical versions.

Musically, “Unloveu” offers a different perspective on heartbreak, focusing on the relief of moving on rather than pleading for reconciliation or turning rejection into revenge. Lara co-wrote and co-produced the song with Amy Allen and Ross Golan, adding another creative milestone to her work within the group.

Its release also follows a major commercial achievement for KATSEYE. WILD debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated August 29, earning 170,000 equivalent album units, including 145,000 in pure album sales and 26.95 million on-demand audio streams during its first week.
