Loud Tiger (aka Viktoria Siff) has officially released her third studio album Cactus on April 3, marking a bold stylistic shift rooted in western aesthetics and emotional resilience.
Built around a desert-inspired sonic palette, Cactus blends banjo, lap steel, and dusty textures with sharp pop songwriting. The result is a record that feels both expansive and immediate, where cinematic imagery meets hook-driven structure. Siff leans into the “urban cowgirl” identity she has gradually developed, constructing a world that echoes classic western films while maintaining a modern pop core. Production comes from longtime collaborator Sune Haansbak.
Thematically, the album is anchored by survival and self-definition. The title itself functions as a central metaphor: a cactus that continues to grow and bloom despite harsh conditions. That idea runs through the tracklist, culminating in the closing sentiment, “Life is tough but so am I,” a line that encapsulates the project’s perspective without slipping into self-pity. Songs like “Whiplash” explore the emotional volatility of love-bombing and control, while “Good Company” reframes independence as empowerment, positioning self-respect as an alternative to destructive relationships.
Personal experiences also inform the album’s emotional weight. Several tracks draw from periods of chronic illness and physical strain, adding a layer of vulnerability to the narrative. Instead of presenting strength as a fixed state, Siff frames it as something negotiated in real time, particularly when stability is out of reach. That tension between fragility and resilience becomes one of Cactus’ defining elements.
The release follows earlier single “Thirsty,” which introduced the album’s thematic direction. In a previous interview with InMusic, Siff described the track as a reflection on romantic disillusionment, centered on repeated encounters with superficial connections. At the time, she also hinted at an extensive creative pipeline, revealing that multiple projects were already in development alongside Cactus.
Before launching Loud Tiger, Siff built an international résumé as a songwriter, working with artists including Alicia Keys, Macy Gray, and JJ Wilde. Her behind-the-scenes work earned industry recognition, including a JUNO Award and multiple platinum certifications across global markets.
Cactus is now available for streaming on all platforms.
