Olivia Rodrigo is offering the clearest insight yet into her upcoming third album. In a new interview with British Vogue, the singer described a project rooted in emotional expansion, revealing: “One word is hard, I feel like the album is very varied.”
Rodrigo framed the record as a shift in perspective. “I really wanted to figure out how to write about joy on this album,” she said, pointing to a thematic departure from the heartbreak-driven narratives that defined SOUR and GUTS. “I was living a lot of joy in my life, I wanted to understand how to inject that into the songs I was making. I’m very proud and I hope everyone likes it.”
The comments arrive as speculation around her next era intensifies. Over the past week, Rodrigo quietly updated the visual identity of her official website, replacing the deep purple palette associated with GUTS with a brighter pink aesthetic. Fans quickly connected the shift to a new creative direction, especially after additional tweaks reinforced the color change.
A pink, heart-shaped lock installation spotted on a London street—engraved with the word “April”—circulated widely across social media, fueling theories that new music could arrive within weeks.
Recent public appearances have added to the momentum. During Paris Fashion Week on March 5, Rodrigo attended the Chloé Autumn/Winter 2026 show, where she avoided revealing details about the project, telling reporters she planned to keep the concept “close to the chest.” That restraint has only amplified fan curiosity.
Behind the scenes, longtime collaborator Dan Nigro has hinted that the music is complete. A late February post reading “Finishing records…” suggested final stages were already in progress, continuing a creative partnership that produced “drivers license” and “good 4 u,” both of which topped the Billboard Hot 100. Their follow-up, GUTS, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2023, led by hits like “vampire.”
