Tate McRae has shared the surprising way Sydney Sweeney ended up on her new song, “Miss Possessive.” During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 21-year-old singer revealed that actor Glen Powell played a key role in making it happen.

Tate explained that she and Sydney had briefly met before but didn’t know each other well. “We kind of knew each other, waved, and said ‘hi’ [in passing at your show],” she told Fallon. However, it was Glen Powell—whom Tate does Pilates with—who ultimately connected them. “Sydney was such a legend,” Tate continued. “She just sent me like 10 versions of this, like little voice memos, three days before the release of So Close to What. She was the absolute best for doing this.”
This unexpected collaboration left fans in awe. Sydney’s voice is featured in the opening lines of “Miss Possessive,” where she says just a few words: “No, seriously, get your hands off my man.” The collaboration came together at the last minute, but Tate’s excitement about the addition was clear. Meanwhile, So Close to What has been receiving praise from both fans and critics. After a strong debut on Spotify—her biggest on the platform—the album is continuing to gain traction with the release of “Siren Sound” as a bonus track and a change in the cover art. Additionally, “Sports Car” has returned to its peak position (No. 17) on the Daily Global Spotify chart, while “Revolving Door” is approaching the top 20.
