Released on July 30, 2021, Happier Than Ever debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming Billie Eilish’s second chart-topping album. The project also earned two Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year, and has continued to resonate with listeners long after its initial release.

Five years after the release of Happier Than Ever, Billie Eilish is looking back on one of the defining albums of her career with a heartfelt message dedicated to the people who have supported it from the very beginning. To celebrate the milestone, Spotify has unveiled never-before-seen archival footage from the album era, featuring the singer reflecting on the bond she shares with her fans.

In the newly released video, Billie Eilish opens up about the role her fans have played throughout her artistic journey. “The fans inspire me in so many ways, gosh. The more feedback I get from them, the more I want to do. They push me in a loving way.”

She continues by describing the emotional connection she feels during every performance. “I really fall in love with multiple fans every show. It’s like, the same way you feel about your best friends. I wish that I could have those moments of just like, pure joy, and awe, and real love with them, more.”

Five years later, the album’s commercial performance remains remarkable. Happier Than Ever has surpassed 8 billion Spotify streams, making it the 74th most-streamed album of all time on the platform while continuing to average more than 2.4 million streams per day globally. During the past year alone, more than 91 million listeners discovered Billie Eilish on Spotify for the first time, with nearly 70% of those new listeners belonging to Gen Z.

Fan engagement has remained equally impressive. Tracks from the album have been added to more than 93 million user-generated Spotify playlists, while the lyrics have been viewed over 108 million times. The title track continues to lead the project, becoming the album’s most-streamed song and music video on Spotify, alongside fellow Billions Club entry “Therefore I Am.

The album’s global reach also remains evident in 2026, with Sydney ranking as the top city streaming Happier Than Ever, followed by São Paulo and Melbourne.
