Tyler, The Creator delivered a classic holiday curveball. On Christmas Day, December 25, the rapper, producer, and creative director surprised fans with a brand-new single titled “SAG HARBOR,” released without prior notice alongside an official music video. The standalone drop continues Tyler’s recent pattern of surprise releases.

“SAG HARBOR” arrives just months after Tyler’s ninth studio album, DON’T TAP THE GLASS, which was released in July and followed 2024’s chart-topping CHROMAKOPIA.

The surprise release caps off an extraordinary year for Tyler. Earlier this month, he was honored with the Innovator of the Decade Award at Variety’s 2025 Hitmakers brunch in Los Angeles. Introduced by André 3000, Tyler was praised for his fearless creativity and lasting influence across music, fashion, and visual art. Accepting the award, he blended humor with self-assurance, acknowledging the recognition while staying true to his irreverent public persona.

That honor reflects a prolific and commercially dominant era. In 2024, Tyler released CHROMAKOPIA, a self-produced album featuring Daniel Caesar, Doechii, GloRilla, and others. The project debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and topped charts globally. He followed it in summer 2025 with DON’T TAP THE GLASS, which delivered fan-favorite tracks like “Ring Ring Ring” and “Sugar on My Tongue,” securing Tyler back-to-back No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.
