Country music continues its remarkable dominance on the Billboard Hot 100. Ella Langley’s breakthrough hit “Choosin’ Texas” remains at No. 1 for a 16th nonconsecutive week, matching one of the longest reigns in the chart’s nearly seven-decade history while leading an unprecedented week for the genre.
With its 16th frame atop the Hot 100, “Choosin’ Texas” ties for the fourth-longest No. 1 run ever, joining Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” featuring Justin Bieber, and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day.” Only three songs have spent more time at the summit: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” (22 weeks), Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (19 weeks), and Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus (19 weeks).
The latest chart also delivers another milestone for country music. For the first time in Billboard Hot 100 history, country songs occupy the entire top five, highlighting the genre’s growing crossover appeal across streaming, radio and sales.
Morgan Wallen makes the biggest debut inside the top tier as his new single “Been by Now” enters at No. 2. The song gives the country superstar his 20th career Hot 100 top 10, making him the first artist whose career has been primarily rooted in country music to reach that milestone. Since earning his first top 10 with “7 Summers” in 2020, Wallen has become one of the decade’s defining hitmakers. Only Drake, with 55 top 10s, and Taylor Swift, with 45, have accumulated more top 10 entries during the 2020s.
Taylor Swift follows at No. 3 with “I Knew It, I Knew You,” after the single spent its opening two weeks atop the chart earlier this summer. Langley and Wallen also hold the No. 4 position together with their duet “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” while Stella Lefty’s breakout hit “Boston” rounds out the historic top five at No. 5.
The week’s results also produce an exceptionally rare chart achievement. Langley and Wallen become just the fourth pair of artists to simultaneously place individual songs and a collaboration together inside the Hot 100’s top five. Previous acts to accomplish the feat include Ashanti and Ja Rule, Rihanna and T.I., and Justin Bieber and DJ Khaled. Langley and Wallen are the first country artists ever to do so.
