In the electronic music scene, few names have risen as quickly as Greek DJ and producer Jback. Since his debut in 2021 with the single “Forever Young,” Jback has made a significant mark, blending pop aesthetics with the energetic pulse of EDM. Hailing from Greece, he has been making a name for himself, amassing millions of streams, earning residencies at some of the country’s hottest venues, and becoming one of Greece’s most promising new talents.
Jback’s journey into music began at a young age, deeply influenced by the pop music he grew up with and the explosion of EDM in the mid-2010s, when Avicii was dominating with the timeless album True and Martin Garrix was emerging with “Animals.” Those early influences shaped Jback’s interest in music production, drawing him to the energy and culture of DJing. “Pop music and pop aesthetics were a big part of me growing up,” Jback shares, explaining how his sound developed naturally from these influences.
In his exclusive interview with InMusic, Jback reflects on his early success and what it feels like to connect with an audience so early in his career. Though he remains humble, acknowledging that he is still far from reaching his ultimate goals, Jback continues to work relentlessly to evolve his sound and grow his fanbase. How would you define your music?
‘’Music to catch feelings by’’
You’re known as one of Greece’s most promising new DJs and producers. How did your journey into music production and DJing begin?
From a young age pop music effects me and influences me a lot. By the age of 14 I start going out to my first school parties in clubs and by that time EDM was huge. Artist like Martin Garrix and Avicii grabbed my attention and it was matter of time to fall in love with this culture and sound. A few years later I bought my first controller and downloaded my first DAW and that’s how the journey begins.
Your unique approach combines pop aesthetics with EDM. How did you develop this blend?
It was pretty easy and it came natural to me cause pop music and pop aesthetics was a big part of me when I grew up but also EDM pushed me to begin producing and Dj. So when I start establishing my sound, these two big influences started to kick in.
What role does Greek music and culture play in your sound and identity as an artist?
Greek music is fun to listen but it hasn’t something common with my sound and identity. On the other hand Greek culture is something that I try to represent as an artist in my own way.
You achieved instant success since your debut in 2021. What’s it been like reaching this level of success so early in your career?
I think it’s beautiful to find an audience that is connected with what you do especially in your very first steps. But success is a big word for me and I’m far from where I want and dream my project to be. Is something that I work everyday for. This doesn’t mean that I’m not glad for where I’m now and for all this amazing moments that I have lived so early in my career.
You’ve already secured residencies at some of Greece’s hottest venues. What do you enjoy most when you perform live?
Performing live is my thing, it is what makes me happy in life. I enjoy every moment of it. But if I had to choose one definitely that’s gonna be the connection with the crowd. The way that you can make so many people dance , catch the same feeling with you and shared so many moments and memories together is purely magical.
Can you tell us about your new single “Leave It To The Heart”?
‘’Leave It To The Heart’’ is my latest single. It’s a track where I combine emotions with a more of a heavy and clubby sound.
What do you hope listeners will take away from this new song?
I hope that the listeners will enjoy the track and be a company to them. But also I hope that in the lyrics and the meaning of the track some people will find a way to express their selfs and their feelings.
Are there any other genres or styles you’d like to experiment with in the future?
For me music is over genres and styles. There are no boundaries in art. So for sure there is a great chance to see me experimenting with different genres, sounds or even blend them.
What can fans look forward to from you in the coming months?
They can definitely expect from me a lot of new music. Also I’m gonna announce soon a bunch of new show dates and maybe in the next months the new ‘’Jback’’ show gonna be ready that I’m planning to present it an a very special venue. Lastly I promise that I’m gonna be a lot more active in my social media and I’m gonna share with them more of my journey and my every day life.
