NewJeans has officially kicked off its fourth anniversary celebrations with a new teaser campaign, giving fans their strongest sign yet that the group’s next chapter may finally be taking shape. On July 21, the group unveiled a video titled 2026 Summer of NewJeans, spotlighting Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein ahead of their anniversary on July 22.
Released through the group’s official channels, the teaser arrives under the NewJeans Day banner and features individual clips and images of the four members alongside the playful question, “Did You See The White Furry Animal?”, which directs fans to a YouTube video. The nostalgic summer-themed rollout has immediately fueled speculation that NewJeans could be preparing its long-awaited return after nearly two years without new group music.
The timing carries extra significance. NewJeans debuted on July 22, 2022, with their self-titled EP, launching a meteoric rise through hits including “Attention” and “Hype Boy.” Their signature Y2K-inspired sound and understated aesthetic quickly established them as one of K-pop’s defining fourth-generation acts.
Since then, the group’s career has been overshadowed by the highly publicized legal dispute between ADOR and former CEO Min Hee-jin. Beginning in 2024, the conflict escalated into contract termination attempts, injunctions, and lengthy court proceedings that effectively halted group promotions throughout 2025.
A major turning point came on October 30, 2025, when the Seoul Central District Court ruled that the members’ exclusive contracts with ADOR remained legally valid. Following the decision, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein gradually returned to the agency, while ADOR later confirmed that discussions with Minji were progressing positively. Danielle, however, officially parted ways with the label at the end of 2025 and remains involved in an ongoing damages lawsuit filed by ADOR.
That background makes the latest anniversary content especially meaningful. Rather than highlighting all five original members, 2026 Summer of NewJeans focuses exclusively on Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein, reflecting the lineup currently moving forward under ADOR.
The teaser also represents the first coordinated group campaign since “Supernatural,” the Japanese single released in mid-2024. Although ADOR has not announced a comeback schedule, the polished visual rollout has convinced many fans that new music could be closer than expected.
