TWICE member Jeongyeon has officially begun a new chapter in her career. On August 10, the singer signed an exclusive contract with VARO Entertainment, marking the end of her 11-year run with JYP Entertainment as she prepares to pursue acting while remaining an active member of TWICE.
The move also reunites Jeongyeon with her older sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon, who is represented by the same agency.
Announcing the signing, VARO Entertainment shared its enthusiasm for the partnership and outlined its plans to support the artist’s transition into acting.
“We are truly delighted to have formed this valuable partnership with Yoo Jeongyeon, who possesses a wide range of charms and limitless potential. We deeply connected with her sincerity and genuine commitment to acting. Building on the global presence she has cultivated over many years as an artist, we will be a dependable partner that provides unwavering support in every area, enabling her to take on new challenges as an actress while continuing her group activities smoothly.”
The statement confirms that Jeongyeon’s focus will expand beyond music without affecting her commitments to TWICE, a model that has become increasingly common among veteran K-pop groups as members seek specialized agencies for their individual careers.
Her departure from JYP Entertainment comes during a pivotal period for TWICE. Last month, South Korean media reported that JIHYO and TZUYU were also considering leaving JYP for their solo activities after their contracts expired. Although the reports fueled speculation about the group’s future, multiple outlets indicated that both members intend to continue participating in all TWICE promotions. JYP Entertainment later responded by saying discussions regarding contract renewals were still ongoing and that no final decisions had been made.
Earlier this summer, TWICE wrapped its massive This Is For World Tour, which spanned 81 concerts across Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania. The trek included historic achievements such as becoming the first foreign act to headline Japan’s National Stadium while attracting approximately 550,000 fans throughout North America.
Soon afterward, JIHYO confirmed in an interview with Forbes that TWICE plans to take an extended break for the remainder of 2026, explaining that the members have rarely enjoyed meaningful downtime since debuting in 2015. The hiatus is expected to allow each member to recharge while exploring new creative opportunities before regrouping for future activities.
