Seven months after the release of Scarlet, Doja Cat has unleashed the deluxe edition of the record. Titled Scarlet 2: Claude, the album includes seven new tracks and features collaborations with ASAP Rocky and Teezo Touchdown. In support of this new edition, Doja has released “Masc” as the lead single along with the accompanying music video. Presenting the album, Doja revealed the reason behind the choice of including the name Claude in the title. The name comes from Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame,” in which Claude Frollo is the antagonist. The 28-year-old singer said that it represents a metaphor for the people that creatives endure on a daily basis in a bigger picture, a bigger scale.
The standard version of the album was released on September 22, 2023 and featured the hit singles “Paint The Town Red,” “Attention” and “Agora Hills”. The album debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, selling 72,000 units in its first week. In the UK, Scarlet also entered the top five, reaching a peak of No. 5.
