On a Monday morning in late October, Tyler, the Creator surprised fans with the release of his seventh studio album, Chromakopia. Released via Columbia Records, the LP arrives three years after his chart-topping Call Me If You Get Lost. Tyler began teasing the album just a few weeks ago by sharing a teaser of the first track, “St. Chroma.” He later announced that the full-length album would be released on October 28th, prompting fans to question why he chose a Monday release date instead of the typical Friday drop for new music. A 2023 interview then resurfaced, where Tyler criticized the trend of Friday releases: “I think it’s a lot of passive listening,” he explained. “If you put it out during the week, you really have time to dive in and really listen.”
Last Friday, Tyler gave fans a first taste of Chromakopia with the lead single, “Noid,” accompanied by a self-directed music video. The album features guest appearances from hip-hop heavyweights like Daniel Caesar, Teezo Touchdown, Childish Gambino, GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Lil Wayne, SchoolBoy Q, and Doechii.
