BTS have reached a rare milestone on Spotify, as their upcoming album ARIRANG surpasses 5 million pre-saves ahead of its March 20, 2026 release. With the achievement, the group joins Taylor Swift as the only acts to ever hit that threshold on the platform.
The figure sets multiple records simultaneously. ARIRANG becomes the first album by a K-pop act, male act, Asian act, and group to cross 5 million pre-saves, marking a new benchmark for global demand ahead of release. The milestone places BTS alongside Swift’s The Life of A Showgirl, which accumulated nearly 6 million pre-saves in late 2025—the highest total in Spotify history.
Momentum around ARIRANG has been building for months, driven by its significance within BTS’ discography. The project marks their first full group album in nearly four years, following a hiatus that began in 2022 as members fulfilled South Korea’s mandatory military service requirements. RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook have now all completed their service, setting the stage for a full-scale return.
Big Hit Music has framed the album as a reconnection with the group’s origins. Drawing inspiration from the traditional Korean folk song “Arirang,” the project explores themes of longing, separation, resilience, and cyclical renewal. That concept positions the release as both a cultural statement and a continuation of the introspective storytelling that has defined BTS’ global rise. The rollout will culminate tonight with the release of lead single “Swim,” arriving alongside the full album.
