Drake’s legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG) continues as the rapper has filed a new defamation lawsuit over Kendrick Lamar’s track “Not Like Us.” According to TMZ, Drake’s legal team claims that UMG was aware of the content of Lamar’s diss track, which allegedly spreads a “false and malicious” narrative accusing Drake of being a pedophile. The rapper also alleges that the label promoted the track to harm his brand and gain leverage in future contract negotiations. He argues that UMG had the power to prevent or alter the release of the song but chose not to, ultimately damaging his reputation.

These claims build on previous allegations made by Drake. The 38-year-old rapper had earlier accused UMG, along with Spotify, of engaging in unethical practices to artificially inflate the success of Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” This includes the use of bots, payola (pay-for-play), and other methods to manipulate streaming numbers and airplay. Drake asserts that these actions were part of a deliberate scheme to make the track go viral at his expense.
UMG has strongly denied the allegations, calling the claims “offensive and untrue.” The label maintains that its marketing and promotional campaigns adhere to the highest ethical standards, emphasizing that the success of “Not Like Us” reflects genuine fan engagement.
