Ed Sheeran has reached another historic milestone in his already record-breaking career. With the latest update from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the singer-songwriter has become the first artist ever to earn two songs certified 10x Platinum or higher in the United Kingdom. His global smash “Perfect” has officially crossed the 10x Platinum mark, joining “Shape of You,” which remains the biggest songs in UK history at 11x Platinum.
“Perfect,” originally released in 2017 as part of Sheeran’s blockbuster album ÷ (Divide), has been one of the most enduring ballads of the streaming era. The song debuted at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart and gradually grew into an international phenomenon. The release of two additional versions—a duet with Beyoncé, titled “Perfect Duet,” and a classical-inspired collaboration with Andrea Bocelli, “Perfect Symphony”—propelled the song even further, leading it to reach No. 1 in the UK and eventually dominate charts worldwide. By the end of 2017, the track claimed the coveted Christmas No. 1 position and went on to top charts in more than two dozen countries.
