Mariah Carey has reached another historic milestone in the UK, as her timeless holiday anthem “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has officially been certified 10× Platinum. The certification, awarded on December 26, confirms over six million units sold and marks the highest level ever achieved by a non-British artist in the country. With this achievement, Carey becomes the first female artist in UK history to reach the 10× Platinum threshold with a single, further solidifying her unmatched status as the undisputed Queen of Christmas.
Originally released in November 1994 as part of Carey’s landmark album Merry Christmas, the song has grown far beyond its seasonal origins. Three decades later, it remains a dominant commercial force, returning to the top of charts and streaming platforms every December. The new UK certification extends its record as the best-selling song by a female artist of all time in the territory and places it alongside Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” and Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” as the second-highest-certified singles in UK chart history. Only Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” and The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside,” both certified 11× Platinum, sit above it.
The milestone caps another commanding holiday season for Carey. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” once again topped the Daily Global Spotify Chart on December 24 and 25, reaffirming its enduring popularity across generations and platforms. Each year, the song experiences massive streaming spikes, routinely outperforming contemporary releases.
The UK achievement follows a series of recent historic moments for the track worldwide. In the United States, the song has now logged a record-breaking 21st week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the longest reign in the chart’s 67-year history. It has also spent 78 total weeks on the Hot 100, surpassing Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” as the longest-charting song ever by a female artist.
Beyond the single, Carey’s broader holiday catalog continues to break records. Her 1994 album Merry Christmas was recently certified Diamond by the RIAA, making her only the third woman in music history to hold three Diamond-certified albums in the United States.
