Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has extended its historic run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching a 17th week atop the chart. The milestone makes the country star’s breakout hit the longest-running non-holiday No. 1 by a female artist in Hot 100 history, surpassing Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day,” which ruled for 16 weeks.
Released Oct. 17, 2025, “Choosin’ Texas” serves as the lead single from Langley’s second studio album, Dandelion. The track became her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 and has since transformed from a country breakout into one of the defining crossover hits of 2026.
Langley co-wrote “Choosin’ Texas” with Luke Dick, Miranda Lambert and Joybeth Taylor. Production came from Langley, Lambert and Ben West, while Lambert also contributes background vocals and Tom Bukovac plays guitar on the recording.
The song’s latest achievement places Langley in rare Billboard company. “One Sweet Day,” released in 1995, previously held the record for the longest-running non-holiday No. 1 by a female artist, with its 16-week reign remaining unmatched for nearly three decades. “Choosin’ Texas” now stands alone at the top with 17 weeks, giving Langley a record that extends beyond the boundaries of country music.
The achievement also adds another major milestone to an already remarkable year for the singer. Dandelion, released April 10 through Sawgod and Columbia Records, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Langley her first chart-topping album. The project also delivered the largest streaming debut for an album of new country material by a female primary artist.
Elsewhere on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, Ariana Grande’s “Petal” debuts at No. 4, earning the highest new entry of the week. “Hate That I Made You Love Me” also climbed to No. 2, after previously debuting atop the chart.
