Ella Langley arrives at a defining moment with Dandelion, a record that sharpens her songwriting voice while expanding her commercial reach. Released April 10 via Columbia Records, the 18-track sophomore set balances radio-ready hooks with grounded, personal storytelling.
Following her 2024 debut hungover, the new album leans into growth rather than reinvention. On the record, Langley crafts songs that explore heartbreak, homesickness, and the push-and-pull between ambition and simplicity. Co-produced with Miranda Lambert and Ben West, Dandelion blends traditional country textures—pedal steel, acoustic guitar—with polished, crossover-friendly arrangements. Contributions from Nashville regulars like Charlie Worsham and Rachel Loy anchor the sound in musicianship, while the overall mix remains accessible enough to sit comfortably alongside contemporary country radio staples.
At the center of the project sits “Choosin’ Texas,” a track that not only topped the Billboard Hot 100 for multiple weeks but also redefined Langley’s commercial ceiling. Its fusion of country storytelling and pop structure paved the way for her commercial breakthrough, a formula repeated throughout the full project. That may also be the album’s weakest point. Across its 18 tracks, Langley moves between country-pop cuts and more emotionally charged moments, resulting in a cohesive yet slightly repetitive flow.
