G-Dragon will officially perform at the 2025 MelOn Music Awards, marking his first appearance at the ceremony in years. The K-pop icon joins the growing lineup of acts set to light up Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome on December 20. The performance will feature material from his third studio album, Übermensch, which marked a major creative rebirth for the star earlier this year.

The 2025 MelOn Music Awards lineup has been steadily expanding, with BOYNEXTDOOR, IVE, RIIZE, Hearts2Hearts, ILLIT, IDID, KiiiKiii, and NCT WISH already confirmed.

G-Dragon will return to the MMA stage with new music from his comeback album. Released in February 2025, Übermensch was G-Dragon’s first project in seven years and his first studio record in over a decade. It arrived via Galaxy Corporation and Empire Distribution, following his departure from YG Entertainment in 2023. The album explores themes of self-transcendence and identity, inspired by Nietzsche’s concept of the Übermensch.

In South Korea, Übermensch broke multiple streaming and sales records, selling over 600,000 copies on its first day and surpassing one million by the end of March. It also became the fastest solo album to reach one million streams on MelOn, achieving the milestone within four hours. All eight tracks entered the platform’s Top 20 — a feat last achieved by IU’s LILAC in 2021.

The MelOn Music Awards 2025 will return to the Gocheok Sky Dome for the first time in three years, reinforcing its role as one of South Korea’s most prestigious year-end celebrations. Alongside fan voting and streaming data, this year’s awards have introduced an expert review component, offering a more balanced evaluation of artistic impact and commercial success.
