Rockstar has given fans a fresh look at the music accompanying Grand Theft Auto VI, with the extended gameplay preview featuring a wide-ranging selection of songs spanning hip-hop, rock, pop, country, new wave, Latin music and electronic dance. The 27-minute Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look offers another glimpse into how music will help shape the atmosphere of Vice City and the wider state of Leonida.
The preview, released August 27, 2026, marks the first official extended look at actual GTA 6 gameplay. Captured on a base PlayStation 5, the presentation follows protagonists Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval as they navigate Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional take on Florida, while showcasing driving, character switching, activities and details from the open-world environment.
Among the most immediately recognizable tracks is Birdman and Lil Wayne’s “Pop Bottles,” which connects the game to the Southern hip-hop tradition that has been central to the Grand Theft Auto series. Sexyy Red and Tay Keith’s “Pound Town” and Kodak Black’s “Skrilla” push that connection into the contemporary era, reinforcing the South Florida influence at the heart of GTA 6.

Rockstar has treated licensed music as a central part of its world-building since the early 3D Grand Theft Auto games. GTA: Vice City in particular became famous for turning its radio stations into extensions of the game world, using period-specific hits and unexpected deep cuts to establish the identity of its fictional Miami setting.
GTA 6 appears to be continuing that formula while updating it for a modern Florida-inspired setting. The combination of Southern rap, Latin urban music, classic pop and rock, and contemporary electronic music gives Leonida a deliberately unpredictable soundtrack that can shift depending on where players are and what they are doing.
Following two delays, Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
