Olivia Rodrigo’s biggest promotional weekend of 2026 reaches its peak tonight. On Saturday, May 2, the Grammy-winning pop superstar takes over Saturday Night Live as both host and musical guest for the first time, marking a major career milestone at Studio 8H.
She arrives with massive momentum behind her. “Drop Dead” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, further cementing Rodrigo’s commercial dominance, while the singer has also confirmed she will premiere a completely unheard song live on national television.
The appearance comes less than 72 hours after Rodrigo officially unveiled The Unraveled Tour, her 65-date global arena run set to launch September 25 in Hartford, Connecticut.
For SNL, the timing is equally significant. Rodrigo’s episode arrives during Season 51’s final stretch, ahead of May 9’s Matt Damon and Noah Kahan pairing, before Will Ferrell and Paul McCartney close out the season on May 16.

What Olivia Rodrigo Will Perform
Rodrigo revealed her musical lineup during her April 30 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, immediately raising expectations for the night.
When Fallon asked what she planned to perform, Rodrigo answered: “Yeah, I’m gonna be singing ‘Drop Dead’ and then a brand-new one that no one has heard of.”
That second performance instantly became one of the weekend’s biggest pop storylines. “Drop Dead,” released April 17 as the lead single from you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, made Rodrigo the first artist in Billboard history whose first three lead album singles all debuted at No. 1.
