Kacey Musgraves has quietly ignited speculation about her next musical chapter. On March 5, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter hinted at new material during a brief exchange with a fan on X, casually referencing what she called “KM6,” a shorthand that appears to signal her upcoming sixth studio album.

The interaction was short but enough to capture the attention of her audience. When a fan asked about future music, Musgraves responded directly.

The tease arrives roughly two years after the release of Deeper Well, her most recent full-length project. Issued in March 2024 through MCA Nashville and Interscope Records, the album marked a reflective shift in tone. Its stripped-back production and nature-inspired imagery signaled a creative reset following the expansive pop textures of 2021’s Star-Crossed.

Deeper Well was a commercial success. The record debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The LP was supported by four singles: “Deeper Well, “Too Good to Be True”, “Cardinal“, and “The Architect“. The latter won the Grammy Award for Best Country Song.
