Megan Thee Stallion just scored another major milestone. With her new single “Lover Girl” soaring straight to No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart, the Houston rapper joins Cardi B as the only female rappers to reach the top spot with a solo rap song in 2025. This marks Megan’s first iTunes No. 1 of the year, and follows the success of her previous single “Whenever,” which dropped in April.

“Lover Girl” finds Megan in a more sensual, melodic lane — blending her sharp delivery with smooth R&B undertones. Built around a sample of Total’s 1996 classic “Kissin’ You,” the track pays homage to the era of slow jams and glossy hip-hop soul.

The accompanying music video, directed by Megan herself and released on October 24, captures that same retro flair. Set against vibrant, late-’90s-inspired visuals, the clip features Megan in a series of glamorous looks — from sleek metallic dresses to vintage streetwear — as she dances, flirts, and reclaims the center of the frame with the self-assured energy that has defined her career.

As mentioned above, with this achievement, Megan joins Cardi B — who topped iTunes earlier this year with “Magnet” and “ErrTime (Remix)” — as the only female rappers to reach No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart with solo rap songs in 2025. Cardi’s latest album, Am I The Drama?, also hit No. 1 upon release.
