Miley Cyrus’ Bass Persuades has made an unusual second-week move on the Billboard 200. After debuting at No. 1, the album falls all the way to No. 157, giving Cyrus the biggest second-week drop from No. 1 in Billboard 200 history.

The 156-position plunge comes just one week after Bass Persuades opened atop the chart with 61,000 equivalent album units. The result makes the album’s second-week performance one of the sharpest reversals ever recorded for a Billboard 200 leader, turning what began as a major chart comeback into an equally notable piece of chart history.

Miley Cyrus’ No. 1 debut last week ended a nearly 13-year wait for another album at the summit. Bass Persuades became her first Billboard 200 No. 1 since Bangerz reached the top in October 2013, while also giving her a sixth career leader.

The album’s first-week total was helped by several limited digital editions released during the tracking period. Miley Cyrus issued instrumental and a cappella versions of all 10 Bass Persuades tracks through iTunes on September 22, followed by a demo edition featuring “Aftermath (Demo)” and five previously unheard voice notes documenting her songwriting process.

That demo edition was available exclusively through iTunes until 11:59 p.m. ET on September 24, placing both the alternate versions and additional material inside the album’s opening-week sales window. Bass Persuades ultimately collected enough activity to give Cyrus her sixth chart-topping album.

Bass Persuades is also Miley Cyrus’ 10th studio album and her first project for Atlantic Records after her departure from Columbia Records. The campaign marked a new phase for the singer, including her first release promoted under the mononym MILEY.
