Fans have spoken, and Nick Jonas has emerged as the clear winner in this week’s new music poll. His introspective ballad “Gut Punch” claimed a decisive 68% of the vote, outperforming releases from Doechii featuring SZA, KATSEYE, and Joji. As 2026 begins to take shape, the result offers an early snapshot of what listeners are connecting with.
Released on January 1, “Gut Punch” serves as the lead single from Jonas’ upcoming solo album Sunday Best, due February 6. It marks his first full-length solo project in five years. Built around minimal production and raw vocals, the song explores self-doubt, people-pleasing tendencies, and the pressure Jonas places on himself as a husband and father, offering a moment of vulnerability that clearly resonated with listeners.
Finishing in second place, Doechii and SZA’s “Girl, Get Up” earned 15% of the vote. Surprise-dropped at the end of December, the track blends woozy hip-hop and R&B while confronting online backlash, misogyny, and industry scrutiny. In the song, Doechii directly addresses critics and “industry plant” allegations.
Close behind, KATSEYE’s “Internet Girl” secured 14%. Released as a surprise thank-you to fans, the upbeat pop track had been highly anticipated since its live debut during the Beautiful Chaos Tour. Its self-aware lyrics and viral visual elements sparked conversation and polarized reactions, but its energy and irony still earned strong support from the group’s growing global fanbase.
Joji’s “Love You Less” rounded out the poll with 3%. The subdued, atmospheric track marks another preview of his forthcoming album Piss in the Wind and leans into themes of emotional imbalance and quiet heartbreak.
