Nicki Minaj is preparing to make another major comeback with her sixth studio album. In a new comment shared online, the rap superstar gave fans a glimpse into what’s coming with NM6—and made it clear that this release won’t be just another project. “I don’t think y’all know what’s about to happen when this new album comes out—especially for women who have been powerful and feared [and] who have stood the test of time no matter what,” Nicki said.

This message comes as anticipation builds around the follow-up to Pink Friday 2, her chart-topping 2023 album that marked a triumphant return. That record, which included hits like “Super Freaky Girl” and “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” earned Nicki another No. 1 on the Billboard 200. But according to the Queen of Rap herself, NM6 is set to go even deeper.

In a 2024 interview with Vogue Italia, Nicki explained her desire to take her time with the new album. “I’ve got a bunch of really strong tracks,” she said. “But I don’t want to rush. I want the record to mean something, both for the fans and for me.” She added that she’s committed to putting out music with real intention: “I’ll never be one of those people who puts out songs just to put them out.

Originally announced as a deluxe edition of Pink Friday 2, the project quickly took on a life of its own. In September 2024, Nicki confirmed she was turning the extra material into a completely new album, saying, “The new music is just too good to be thrown away.”
